Job summary

North American Stainless is seeking an Industrial Engineer to coordinate and prioritize machine-related projects, analyze equipment problems, and drive improvements across production lines. You will work with maintenance and operations to redesign and retrofit equipment, prepare cost estimates, bids, and work orders, and ensure alignment with safety and NAS policies.

The role requires a technical degree and at least one year of industrial experience, with strong written and verbal communication

Qualifications

  • Minimum technical degree from an approved college/university.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • One year experience in industrial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and set priorities for projects.
  • Analyze and define machinery issues to improve quality, productivity and uptime.
  • Redesign/retrofit machinery to upgrade performance and reduce costs.
  • Define project scope, create drawings, write reports, estimate costs and obtain approvals.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations to retrofit and install equipment.
  • Support safety/compliance per OSHA and NAS policies.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates and sets priority for the projects in the respective

Analyzes and defines machinery and equipment problems to improve quality, productivity, repair damaged equipment, save money, and increase production line

Re-designs, re-engineers and /or retro-fits machinery and equipment that needs upgrading, is damaged, is poorly designed or is incorrectly used in order to improve quality and productivity, to repair damaged equipment, to save money and to improve production line up-time.

Defines and scopes projects, makes engineering drawings or layouts, writes engineering reports, makes cost estimates, obtains bids, writes work orders, makes recommendations to management, obtains approval to purchase necessary equipment and materials, and works with Maintenance and Operations Personal to retro-fit and install.

Communicates and coordinates with Maintenance Personnel to provide technical expertise and support on the full range of maintenance projects and programs to reduce maintenance costs, avoid costly downtime, and increase equipment utilization.

Works closely with accounting personnel to insure proper coding of all

Follows OSHA regulations as it applies to engineering design, constructions, maintenance, and equipment installation to assure NAS compliance to safety and health

Keeps abreast of new equipment and techniques by reading appropriate journals associating with professional organizations, trade associations, colleagues, equipment vendors, service companies, consultants, and government agencies, and attending conferences, training courses, and continuing education courses as appropriate

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of Technical Degree from approved University/College. (BS/BA)

Basic computer skills

One year experience needed in Industrial

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Mobility in plant

Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:

Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.

Fire Retardant clothing

Acid PPE

Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy

Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines

Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations

Maintain a clean and safe work area
