Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking an entry-level Chemical Handler to support on-site waste management at customer sites in Berkeley, CA. The role involves packing haz waste, labeling materials, and moving between client sites with company-provided vehicles and equipment.

Safety-focused training and growth opportunities are emphasized. The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with daily site visits, walking and manual tasks, and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• CDL Class B is preferred or required to obtain/maintain.
• Willingness to complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
• BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science is a plus.
• Prior chemical handling experience or chemistry knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make waste pickups at labs as needed.
• Package and label waste products and other materials.
• Identify unknown chemicals when encountered.
• Inspect staging, accumulating, and storage areas for proper housekeeping and compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal.
• Ensure quality control of stored and shipped waste materials.
• Complete required manifests and tracking paperwork.
• Use CHOICE waste management software to manage waste programs.

~A lot of general labor, packing haz waste on customer sites- going to multiple customer sites throughout the week.

~Mileage for travel

RESPONSIBILITIES

InSite Chemists perform a wide range of tasks, including:

• Making waste pickups at labs as needed
• Packaging and labeling waste products and other materials
• Identifying unknown chemicals when they are encountered
• Performing inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance
• Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for efficient and compliant disposal
• Overall quality control of waste materials being stored and shipped
• Completing required manifests and tracking paperwork
• Utilizing CHOICE waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
