Responsibilities

• Upholster interior sections of chairs and sofas.
• Apply poly parts and cotton/dacryon to frames, shape arms, backs, and seats.
• Secure fabric with tacks and staple to ensure tight fittings.
• Stretch, shape, and align fabric for patterns and appearance.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed throughout process.

Inside Upholsterer Opportunity

As an Inside Upholsterer for Bernhardt, you will be at the heart of our operations, responsible for upholstering interior sections of chairs and sofas, and ensuring the highest quality and adherence to design specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply poly parts and cotton/dacryon to the frame, shaping the inside arms, inside back, and seat as required.
• Secure the fabric to an inside component using tacks, ensuring proper alignment.
• Stretch and shape the fabric over the component, adjusting tautness to achieve the desired feel, appearance, and pattern alignment.
• Permanently affix the fabric with staples, ensuring a tight and secure fit.
• Repeat the process for each component until the entire piece is upholstered.
• Set the finished unit aside for the cell assembler to move to the next stage.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent injuries and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Experience: At least three years of experience in upholstery is preferred.
• Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in using hand tools
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to furniture production
  • Ability to work with power tools for assembly
• Education: A certification in upholstery or a related field is preferred but not required.
