Job summary

Ellwood Quality Steels Company in New Castle, PA is seeking an Industrial Sales Specialist to meet customer needs, solve problems, and capitalize on selling opportunities. You will respond to inquiries, quote material grades, and collaborate with Operations and Production Planning to support customers.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, experience in industrial sales or customer service, and proficient computer skills.

Qualifications

• Prior industrial sales, marketing and quoting experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Responds to customer inquiries and requests for information, service and status.
• Calculates pricing for different grades of steel within set parameters and may change pricing.
• Works with internal staff to meet customers' needs and selling opportunities.
• Coordinates transportation mode for customers as needed.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and safety rules.
• Occasional customer visits for sales calls.

About the Position:

Utilizing independent judgment, this position is responsible to meet customer sales/service needs, solve problems and take advantage of selling opportunities. This position reports to the Director of Sales.

What You'll Do:

• Responds to customer inquiries and requests for information, service and status including possible recommendations of material grades or specifications.
• Interacts with respective customers; submits non-conforming material (NCM) to customer, and deals with customer complaints.
• Calculates pricing for different grades of steel within set parameters.
• Has authority to change pricing, as needed.
• Works collaboratively with internal staff including Operations and Production Planner to meet customers' sales/service needs, solve problems, and to take advantage of selling opportunities.
• Determines and implements mode of transportation for their respective customers and has authority to change transportation mode.
• Works with Accounting to deal with customer credit issues.
• Make occasional sales visits to customers for sales calls, as needed.
• Provide backup to the department, as needed.
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
• Must have ability and desire to work well with others.
• Meets attendance requirements.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

What You'll Need:

• High school diploma or G.E.D required. Post-secondary education (Associates, Bachelors Degree) preferred with a strong background in industrial sales or customer service.
• Prior Industrial sales, marketing and quoting experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer skills with proficiency - Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) preferred.
• Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization
• Strong work ethic
• Driving is a function of this position but not a requirement in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program. Driver's license will be monitored for valid and active status.
