ARC Services in Rhode Island seeks an Inside Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC and manual machines for precision components in shipbuilding and industrial applications.

The candidate will interpret technical drawings, select tooling and parameters, and work in a high-production environment with Mazak and other equipment. 3+ years of experience and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Formal machinist or CNC training preferred.
• 3+ years of machining experience in industrial, manufacturing, or shipyard environments.
• Experience working with large components and tight tolerances preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce precision components.
• Work on Mazak Vari-Axis (5-axis), MAG 2000 (VTL with milling capabilities), Mazak 650 (turning center with milling capabilities), and manual/engine lathes per shop placement.
• Set up and operate large horizontal boring mills.
• Use conversational programming on Mazak machines to create/modify machining programs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machining instructions.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters for various materials and job requirements.
• Perform machine adjustments, offsets, and tool changes to maintain accuracy.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Maintain production and quality documentation.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet deadlines.
