Job summary

Preferred Combustion, a division of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation, seeks an Inside Sales Application Engineer to support the outside sales team. The role combines technical design with customer-facing responsibilities, ensuring proper selection and application of combustion equipment.

You will travel to customer sites for on-site reviews, manage proposals from inquiry to contract, and collaborate with engineering and sales to deliver accurate pricing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or a related field).
• 2-5+ years of relevant industry experience in sales, applications engineering, or a related technical role is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
• Hands-on or field experience with combustion equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Design and select optimal equipment solutions based on inquiries and specs.
• Own the proposal process from inquiry to contract award; prepare cost estimates and pricing.
• Coordinate with internal teams to gather docs and drawings for quotations.
• Draft, edit and issue formal quotations; lead post-proposal follow-up and negotiations.
• Travel to customer sites for on-site reviews and proposal data gathering.
• Perform technical risk assessments and collaborate with management to improve tools.
• Provide status updates and create sales presentations using MS Office.
