Job summary

O'Neil Digital Solutions in Monroe, NC is seeking an Inserter Operator I for the 2nd shift (4x10). You will set up, operate, and maintain inserting equipment to fold, match, and insert printed materials into envelopes.

Duties include loading jobs from tickets, feeding mail, troubleshooting, and adhering to safety guidelines. You will supervise helpers, read postal statements, and ensure outputs meet specifications.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a printing or mail inserting environment preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent communication, reliability and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Set up inserting equipment at the start of each job per ticket specs.
• Insert address tags into mail sacks or trays for bulk mailing.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Read and interpret postal statements and sort mail.
• Supervise and direct helpers on the machine.
• Ensure outputs meet required specifications and report defects.
• Follow SOPs and communicate job status to the department manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Inserter Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used to fold, match, and insert multiple pieces of printed material into envelopes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up inserting equipment at the beginning of each job according to the specifications provided on the job ticket
• Insert address tags into mail sacks, or mail trays used for bulk mailing of ID cards, kits, and catalogs
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot problems, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed
• Keep work area in order and follow prescribed safety regulations
• Able to read postal statements and sort mail accordingly
• Make adjustments as required to return output to the proper specifications
• Direct and supervise the work of helpers on the machine
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager
• Communicate status of jobs to department manager
• Follow standard operating procedures according to the department’s guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Two years of experience in a printing or mail inserting environment preferred (operating either Pitney Bowes, Kern or Bell and Howell Inserters is a plus)
• High school graduate, or completion of GED preferred
• Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
