Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an Inpatient Therapist to deliver supervised mental health services, including assessments, psychoeducation, and evidence-based counseling in individual and group formats.

The role requires a Master’s degree and licensure (LCSW/LPC/LMHC/LMFT) with BLS and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certifications within 30 days of start date. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to plan discharges and follow-ups.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or a related field.
  • LCSW, LPC/LMHC, or LMFT licensure may be required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individual, group, and family psychoeducational and process groups.
  • Develops and reviews treatment plans in planning meetings.
  • Assesses patient safety and reports changes in condition.
  • Identifies risk factors and implements interventions for patients with special precautions.
  • Completes assessments, group notes, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team on discharge planning and readiness for discharge.
  • Conducts post-discharge follow-up as indicated.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Mental Health Professional is to deliver exceptional, patient-focused care by providing supervised mental health services to patients and their loved ones. Their responsibilities include conducting assessments, offering psycho-education, leading process groups, developing treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic counseling sessions using evidence-based interventions in one-on-one and group therapy.

What you will do in this Role:
  • Conducts one-on-one, group, and family psychoeducational and process groups.
  • Develops treatment plans and attends treatment planning meetings and reviews on an ongoing basis.
  • Assesses environment and patient’s safety status and reports/responds to actual and potential safety issues or changes in the patient's condition.
  • Identifies risk factors, screening criteria, and interventions for patients with special precautions (e.g., suicide, homicide, falls, elopement).
  • Completes assessments, group notes, and all other documentation promptly and in compliance with requirements, as appropriate to scope.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge.
  • Conducts post-discharge follow-up as indicated.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Masters Degree
  • (LCSW) Clinical Social Worker, or (LPC/LMHC) Licensed Professional/Mental Health Counselor, or (LMFT) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
