Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care or completion of 6 month UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I orientation or new graduate RN residency didactic series.
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience or successful completion of EKG class
• Internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
• Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.
• Act as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit.
• Function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
