Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) to deliver inpatient care in the Colorectal Surgery Section. The selected candidate will be appointed as a faculty Instructor and eligible for full faculty benefits.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, pre-rounds, rounds with surgeons, orders, documentation in EPIC, discharge planning, and education of learners. Surgical oncology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Board certification by an appropriate certifying organization.
• Licensed as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas.
• DEA certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care of colorectal surgery patients in coordination with attending physicians and resident team.
• Perform thorough rounds, document clinical decision-making and treatment plans.
• Order and interpret diagnostics (x-rays, ECGs, labs, MR/CT imaging).
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the EPIC EMR system.
• Prescribe treatments during inpatient admission and discharge planning.
• Educate patients on prescribed regimens and home care.
• Assist with wound care and drainage management as needed.
• Provide orientation and support to PA/NP students, residents, and staff.
• Promote a positive team-based work environment.
• Contribute to discharge planning and cross-disciplinary rounds.

Education
