Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan, seeking a dynamic Social Work Associate to join our clinical team. The role provides social services under supervision within an inpatient/day hospital setting.

You will contribute to discharge planning, therapy services, and liaison with community resources as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, helping patients and families.

Qualifications

• Second year last quarter student in a Master of Social Work program from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
• Experience on an inpatient psychiatric unit a must.
• Employee must be in good standing to be considered for an internal transfer.

Responsibilities

• Participates as an integral professional member of a multidisciplinary treatment team led by the psychiatrist.
• Facilitates the therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit.
• Performs social work interventions as directed by the treatment team, the treating psychiatrist and/or the Lead Social Worker.
• Obtains and assesses social history information and reports this to the treatment teams.
• Performs discharge planning/case management from the day of admission.
• Provides group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, substance abuse group/didactic, and/or couples therapy as deemed appropriate by the treatment team.
• Acts as liaison for hospitalized patients with various community agencies and resources.
• Attends treatment team conferences and completes treatment plans.
• Documents in the medical record
