Job summary

WVU Medicine’s inpatient nursing role requires delivery of care through the nursing process with novice-level knowledge. The RN will assess data, plan and implement care, and document outcomes in a high-demand hospital setting.

In this role, the nurse demonstrates safety, participates in evidence-based practice, and provides tailored education while upholding ethical standards and professional growth through lifelong learning.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state RN license through eNLC.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates safety and continuity of care using documentation and handoff tools.
• Creates plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, interventions, and evaluation of outcomes.
• Identifies patient safety concerns with appropriate resources.
• Provides education tailored to the patient’s learning needs.
• Considers patient individuality and mutuality in care delivery.
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and documentation.
• Utilizes teach-back to evaluate education effectiveness.
• Applies Evidence-Based Practice in nursing care.
• Participates in patient-centered care models.
• Documents problems and issues in the plan of care.
• Adapts care for more complex patients with consultation from experienced colleagues.
• Shows commitment to lifelong learning through self-reflection and inquiry.
• Maintains accountability for delegated nursing care.
• Understands scope of practice for interprofessional team members.
• Engages in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
• Assesses impact of family dynamics on health and wellness.
