Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide patient-centered therapy within established policies and procedures. You will assess patients, plan and implement treatments, and contribute to discharge planning while ensuring safety and quality of care.

Strong knowledge of evaluation, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• No experience is required.
• Texas licensed or eligible for Texas license.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, and treatment-specific protocols regarding patient care; passes competency reviews and follows safety practices.
• Reviews information from patient history and examinations; uses proper testing to evaluate and set realistic goals and timeframes.
• Designs and analyzes treatment plans based on patient problems and goals; prepares for discharge and documents progress.
• Organizes patient treatment and manages time; assists in training and supervising OT technicians, students, and nursing staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

• Education: Bachelor\'s Degree from accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Experience: No experience is required.
• Licenses and Certifications: (BLS) Basic Life Support CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Upon Hire; Texas licensed or eligible for Texas license is required.

Preferred

• 1 year related experience.

JOB DUTIES

• Demonstrates knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, and treatment-specific protocols regarding patient care. Passes competency reviews. Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics for personal and patient safety. Utilizes good body mechanics and instructs others. Does not compromise patient safety and maximizes patients\' treatment potential.
• Reviews information available from all sources (history and physical, overt and subjective complaints). Utilizes proper testing and measurement procedures based on information gathered in evaluation. Identifies and records problems noted. For each problem identified, projects realistic goals with reasonable time frames. Determines if treatment is effective. Utilizes evaluation to progress the patient in a timely fashion.
• Analyzes and designs treatment plans based on patient problems and goals. Prepares for patient discharge. Records patients\' progress. Orders equipment and ensures prescriptions are completed in full.
• Organizes patient treatment and unscheduled time efficiently. Assists in coverage of other patients and on-the-job training, education, and supervision of occupational therapy technicians, students and/or nursing staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
