Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Patient Dietary Assistant for the Acute Inpatient Rehab unit. This full-time, mid-shift role supports dietary and nutritional care, conducts nutrition screenings, assists patients with menu selections, serves meals, and coordinates with the dietitian and food service staff.

You will monitor patient food intake, assist with oral supplements as ordered, and help maintain unit stocking and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: hospital food service experience.
• Preferred: 2+ years of data entry experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs nutrition screening to identify patients at nutrition risk.
• Assists patients with menu selections based on diet orders and serves meals.
• Monitors patient food intake and documents intake.
• Transports and delivers meals and snacks to patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient, dietitian, and patient food service staff.
• Participates in quality focus teams and unit activities.
• Relays nutritional concerns to supervisor or appropriate leader.
• Maintains unit stocking and records temperatures of refrigerators/freezers.
