Job summary

Exalt Health Rehabilitation Hospital Sarasota, LLC in Florida is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our inpatient rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. Working under the supervision of an OT, you will provide comprehensive OT services to help patients regain independence in ADLs and return to their prior level of function.

The role emphasizes hands-on assessment, treatment planning, patient and family education, and accurate documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Current certification to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state where practicing.
• Current BLS certification required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
• 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
• Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Treatment: assist in evaluating patients' functional abilities and implement treatment plans to improve self-care, ADLs, and independence.
• Patient Education: educate patients and families on adaptive equipment and home modifications.
• Documentation: accurately document progress and outcomes in the EMR.
• Communication and Collaboration with OT, physicians, nurses, and the inter-disciplinary team.
• Professional Development: stay up-to-date on OT practices and maintain a safe environment.
