The role requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with basic nursing skills training, plus a high school diploma. Weekend, holiday, and limited weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited Baccalaureate or Masters entry level nursing program with passing grades.
• Completed a fundamental nursing course including basic nursing skills (vital signs, ADLs).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Reports to charge RN and assists with assignment of duties.
• Maintains a safe patient environment.
• Sets tasks based on patient needs under RN guidance.
• Participates in individualized care plans under RN direction.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Documents patient data in care records accurately.
• Performs routine procedures, treatments and specimen collections.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique when necessary.
• Assists with advanced procedures as directed by RN/physician.
• Assists with management of uncomplicated tubes and drains.
• Performs blood glucose testing and specimen collection.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and communication.
• Reports changes in patient condition to RN promptly.
• Assists with admission, discharge, and transport.
• Transports specimens and patient belongings as needed.
• Obtains blood products, supplies and equipment.
• Uses telephone and patient call systems proficiently.
• Uses EPIC and monitors/equipment as required.
• Keeps rooms tidy and stocked per unit protocol.
• Replenishes supplies and maintains emergency stocks.
• Communicates pertinent information across shifts.
• Negotiates break times per unit protocol.
• Demonstrates initiative and self-direction in work habits.
