Job summary

Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility seeks a per diem Registered Nurse to provide high-quality inpatient psychiatric care in our Long Beach unit. The role involves comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include documenting care in EHR, responding to emergencies, and ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. LPS training and appropriate credentials are required for ongoing eligibility in this hospital

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an ADN or BSN.
• Active and unrestricted RN license issued by the State of California.
• 2 years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or related human-services setting preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, or other languages commonly spoken by the patient population preferred.
• Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnoses and psychiatric medications.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive and focused physical assessment relative to presenting complaints about withdrawal and mental health status.
• Relates data to mental health staff to design appropriate medical treatment plans.
• Administers treatment and medications as prescribed and maintains documentation.
• Maintains patient records in EHR and monitors changes in health status.
• Responds to medical or psychiatric emergencies and performs CPR when needed.
• Complete required credentialing and regulatory training, including LPS.
