Job summary

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is recruiting Phlebotomists with EKG experience to support inpatient services at the Long Beach VA Health Care System in Long Beach, CA. This role includes phlebotomy duties and occasional resting EKGs within inpatient units.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, California CPT certification, AHA BLS, and at least one year of phlebotomy experience; prior inpatient experience preferred. Schedule changes may occur to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (California CPT I or CPT II) required.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience within the last 3 years.
• 2–3 years of acute care or inpatient setting preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collections, and ECGs.

Responsibilities

• Perform proper specimen collection and labeling for routine and special procedures.
• Conduct venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Collect specimens for urinalysis, 24‑hour urines, toxicology, microbiology, and other testing.
• Ensure correct patient identification, tube selection, specimen volume, timing, and handling.
• Accession specimens and ensure timely transport to laboratory sections.
• Communicate with laboratory personnel during peak workload periods.
• Maintain compliance with VA policies, infection control standards, and patient privacy regulations.
• Perform resting EKGs for inpatient populations as needed.
• Properly document completed EKGs in the VA electronic health record system.
• Maintain and clean EKG equipment per facility standards.
• Note: This role is primarily phlebotomy-focused, with EKG duties as needed.
