Qualifications

• 12 months experience as phlebotomist with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Safety: proper disposal of bio-hazardous waste and safe handling of difficult patient situations.
• Technical: identify patients, label specimens, perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, ensure specimen integrity and proper transport.
• Work relationships: communicate well, collaborate with nurses, physicians and lab staff.
• Information Technology: basic computer use, e-mail, test ordering, and handling beepers and CLM devices.
• Clerical: secure signatures, maintain records, print reports, manage inventory and supplies.
• Additional duties: use Sunquest for ordering/cancelling, avoid unnecessary needle sticks, adapt in high-volume settings.
