Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or ExCPT must be obtained within 18 months of start date, per state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed pharmacist with technical duties in preparation and distribution of medications.
  • Accurately select, prepare, and label medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
  • Assist with medication distribution tasks and pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
  • Screen calls and route using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette.
  • Complete documentation for removing, stocking, and disposing of controlled substances where applicable.
  • Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
  • Perform sterile IV admixture using proper aseptic technique where applicable.
  • Ensure storage areas comply with policies and regulatory standards.
  • Record patient demographics and data into the pharmacy system; assist with insurance verification and label generation.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and training of technicians as needed.
