Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Inpatient Pharmacy at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, serving both inpatient units and ambulatory care locations including CBOCs and satellite sites.

You will perform dispensing, preparation, inventory management, sterile compounding, and ensure compliance with USP standards to support patient care and pharmacy services. This is a full-time role with evenings and rotating weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Filling, dispensing, procurement, storage, preparation, review, distribution and control of medications.
• Unit-dose review and cart filling for inpatient areas; stock rotation and inventory management.
• Sterile compounding of parenteral medications when needed; includes hazardous/chemotherapy cleanroom work.
• Comply with USP 795, 797, 800; ensure proper labeling, documentation, and data entry for prescriptions.
• Provide clerical support and assist in training pharmacy technicians and students.
