Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health in Virginia seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing, delivering, and stocking medications within a hospital-based setting.

You will enter orders, support workflow, and help ensure compliant, safe medication delivery while collaborating with clinical staff across shifts. A valid VA tech license and hospital experience enhance candidacy, with competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Active Virginia Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
Recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in a hospital or outpatient setting.
Proficiency with pharmacy software.

Responsibilities

Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems.
Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency.
Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards.
Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency.
Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units.
Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates.
Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation.
