Job summary

United Surgical Partners International (USPI) Arizona Specialty Hospital is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the hospital pharmacy department. This full-time role requires accuracy in drug distribution, sterile compounding, unit dose packaging, and stocking duties under pharmacist supervision.

The position emphasizes precise medication management, adherence to DEA and State Board rules, and strong communication with physicians, nurses, and staff.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and registered with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum 1 year inpatient hospital experience; sterile product compounding preferred.
• Good organizational, problem solving and computer skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts.
• Knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Pyxis automated dispensing systems.
• Understands basic pharmaceutical nomenclature and medical terminology.
• Ability to interpret physician orders including dosage forms and frequency.
• Complies with DEA and Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacy Department in providing drugs or IV solutions in correct amounts and times.
• Restock anesthesia drug boxes and floor stock in OR/PACU/Pre-op/PSU.
• Unit dose packaging, charging, receiving and stocking within pharmacy.
• Compound sterile products and perform unit inspections.
• Maintain records and communicate issues to Pharmacist in charge.
