Certified Pharmacy Technician PRN
USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy department in providing accurate medications and IV solutions to patients, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Job Summary
The Certified Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacy Department with tasks including re-stocking anesthesia drug boxes and floor stock in the OR, PACU, Pre‑op and PSU; unit dose packaging, charging, receiving and stocking; compounding sterile products; and performing unit inspections. The technician will maintain accurate records and assist in related activities directed by the Pharmacy Director/Pharmacist-In-Charge.
Key Responsibilities
- Re-stocking anesthesia drug boxes and floor stock in the OR, PACU, Pre‑op and PSU.
- Unit dose packaging, charging, receiving, and stocking within the pharmacy.
- Compounding sterile products and performing unit inspections.
- Maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
- Assisting in related activities as directed by the Pharmacy Director/Pharmacist-In-Charge.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) registered with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum 1 year inpatient hospital experience; sterile product compounding preferred.
- Good organizational, problem‑solving and computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with physicians, nurses, patients and staff.
- Knowledge of medication management information systems, Microsoft applications, and Pyxis automated dispensing systems.
- Basic pharmaceutical nomenclature and commonly used medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Mathematical ability to calculate dosages and amounts required.
- Ability to interpret physician orders, including routes of administration, dosage forms, and frequency.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy medication references.
- Adherence to all DEA and Arizona State Board of Pharmacy rules.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Current CPR or ACLS certification (required).
