Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing medications for patients. You will receive and enter medication orders, prepare and label doses, deliver meds to care areas, and help maintain inventory and records.

The role includes supervised compounding, unit-dose filling, medication billing tasks, and assisting in training new technicians. A Michigan Pharmacy Technician License, HS diploma or GED, and customer-focused team approach

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Michigan Pharmacy Technician License required.
• 6 months pharmacy experience preferred.
• Must be able to type approximately 25 words per minute.
• Must be able to work with a wide variety of people under stressful situations.
• Motivated to provide high quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Picks up medication orders and delivers medications to patient care areas.
• Accurately enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system.
• Determines quantities needed to fill prescriptions and prepares medications for dispensing.
• Aseptically compounds and labels intravenous solutions.
• Fills unit dose cassettes with medications.
• Generates appropriate computer reports in a timely fashion.
• Maintains admission, discharge, and transfer information.
• Exchanges unit dose cassettes in patient care areas.
• Checks expiration dates and returns items to stock locations.
• Processes discontinued drug orders and performs medication billing functions.
• Obtains medications from pharmacy stock areas.
• Performs drug packaging and labeling functions as needed.
• Collects and records data for workload statistics and other records.
• Inventories and replenishes medication and supplies in dispensing areas.
• Replenishes emergency boxes with needed medications.
• Participates in teaching and supervision of new technicians and students.
