Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a certified Pharmacy Technician to advance clinical care on inpatient teams in Missouri. This role focuses on medication order preparation, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and use of automated systems to support patient safety and efficient workflows.

Located in St. Louis, the hospital offers Magnet-certified environment and opportunities across central and satellite pharmacies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Less than 2 years of experience in pharmacy.
• Active State Board Pharmacy Registration and Pharmacy Tech Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain QA standards and required documentation; ensure regulatory cleanliness.
• Assist in preparation of medication orders, including workflow management and non-sterile compounding.
• Use automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory and patient records.
• Support inventory activities: storage, ordering, rotation, beyond-use dating and cleanliness.
• Pursue proficiency in sterile compounding and other advanced skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 2, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, and assists in dispensing & transporting medications. This position also conducts sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, uses various automated/electronic systems and maintains the required documentation & records.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
• Pursues proficiency in compounding sterile preparations and/or other advanced skills.
