Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient to join the clinical team.

You will assist in dispensing and transporting medications under supervision, gain experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding, and work in an integrated practice model with access to drug information resources.

This role offers evenings, weekends rotation, and opportunities to grow in a Magnet-certified academic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• State Bd Pharm Registration required.
• Pharmacy Tech Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, assists in dispensing and transporting medications. This entry level position learns to conduct non-sterile and/or sterile compounding and is responsible for maintaining the required documentation & records.
