Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician III to join the inpatient pharmacy team and support medication distribution across diverse patient populations.

In this advanced role, you will perform sterile and non-sterile compounding, assist in dispensing, and collaborate with pharmacists to maintain safety, accuracy, and efficient operations within a busy hospital environment. This position offers a Mon - Fri schedule from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with every 5th Saturday

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, workflow management, basic preparation and dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Supports inventory activities including storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
• Assumes primary responsibility for a specific task or area, including training, system maintenance, inventory management, and workflow improvements.
• Pursues proficiency in complex sterile compounds and other advanced skills as needed.
• Performs multiple technician responsibilities across the pharmacy or for a focus area, including training and system maintenance.

In this advanced role, you will have the opportunity to provide medications to a diverse patient population while supporting safe and efficient pharmacy operations. Responsibilities include sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication preparation and distribution, and working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women's Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital's medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 3, under the direct supervision a of staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, provides cross coverage for multiple technician competencies or responsibilities within a focus area. This position serves as a department resource to answer questions and assists in resolving more complex issues. This position's responsibilities may include preparing medication orders, assisting in dispensing and transporting medications, conducting complex sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, inventory management, training, the use of various automated/electronic systems, and maintaining the required documentation & records.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
• Assumes primary responsibility for a specific task, function or area of specialty, to include training, system maintenance, inventory management, workflow, process improvement, as well as use of electronic/automated systems.
• Pursues proficiency in the preparation of complex sterile compounds; seeks out other advanced skills and/or additional responsibilities.
• Performs multiple technician responsibilities across the pharmacy or assumes primary responsibility for a focus area, which includes training, system maintenance, inventory management, workflow, process improvement, and proficiency in associated electronic/automated systems; focus areas could also include complex sterile or non-sterile compounding, quality assurance inspections, repackaging, system and automation maintenance, and process/policy improvement.
