Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Director to oversee the 24‑hour Inpatient Pharmacy Department, driving quality and financial outcomes while leading a staff of pharmacists and technicians.

You will assist the Pharmacy Director in setting strategic goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing programs to improve service to patients and staff. Occasional staff pharmacist duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy required.
• Advanced education such as Pharm.D. Degree or Master of Science degree in Hospital Pharmacy with equivalent curriculum preferred.
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.
• Registers with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and assures that all aspects of that responsibility are followed.
• Must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Iowa in good standing or eligible for registration.
• Five years’ experience in hospital pharmacy with experience in administration, supervision or other leadership or management role preferred.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 24-hour operation of the Inpatient Pharmacy Department.
• Achieve established quality and financial budget outcomes.
• Select, develop, and maintain a team of competent staff.
• Assist the Pharmacy Director in setting long- and short-range goals.
• Develop and administer departmental policies and procedures.
• Develop and administer all pharmacy programs and services.
• Interview, hire, evaluate, and discipline staff; oversee scheduling and payroll.
• Monitor budgets and initiate corrective action as necessary.
• Coordinate with hospital leadership to improve pharmacy services and compliance.
