Job summary

UC Health is hiring a PRN Pharmacy Intern for the Inpatient Pharmacy at West Chester Hospital. The intern supports pharmacists and leadership through rounds, history, counseling, drug information, dosing, and preparation as allowed by law.

Responsibilities include formulary support, education, cost-saving analyses, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Requires Ohio intern registration and enrollment in pharmacy school.

Qualifications

• Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current pharmacy intern registration recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
• 0-6 months of experience required; 1-2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in formulary system for inpatients and ambulatory patients.
• Maintain and update DPD/subcommittee actions monthly.
• Develop New Drug Memos to educate staff on new formulary drugs.
• Update guidelines and tools after DPD approval.
• Tabulate formulary changes for cost savings.
• Support drug information and education.
• Develop drug information responses on request.
• Provide notice of alternatives to drug shortages.
• Develop system-wide communications for policy updates.
• Support formulary and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assess medication use against the formulary.
• Conduct medication use evaluations as requested.
• Assist in technology enhancements in medication use process.
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings and training.
• Complete competence/skills assessments.
• Meet hospital and department standards of performance.
