Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian Hospital invites pharmacy students to gain inpatient experience as part of a hands-on team. You will learn operations of pharmacy automation, robot dispensing, IV room processes, and narcotic handling while shadowing a Unit Base Pharmacist in P-3 year.

Responsibilities include assisting with medication distribution and order filling, preparing IV admixtures, and maintaining patient profiles. You will document work and support billing, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Good standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy, entering P1 year or above, and apply for intern license within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication and computer skills are essential for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist with medication distribution and delivery, including refilling automated cabinets.
• Assist with filling medication orders and maintaining patient profiles.
• Prepare IV admixtures/chemotherapy and controlled substance orders.
• Assist with medication review, including computer order entry and monitoring drug interactions.
• Complete departmental documentation and billing by end of each shift.
• Complete clinical workload documentation as required by department procedures.
• Use information systems and robotics to prepare medication labels and assist dispensing.
• Demonstrate a service orientation in all interactions with patients and staff.
• Prepare drug information responses and conduct medication use evaluations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
• Perform duties in line with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
