Job summary

SEARHC in Sitka, Alaska, seeks a licensed Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective, and economical drug therapy. You will prepare and dispense medications, counsel patients, and advise medical staff on therapy choices in accordance with federal and state laws.

Responsibilities include prescription reviews, clinical consultations, supervising technicians, and participating in quality improvement within the department. A Pharm.D. and active Alaska license are required, with travel to clinics as needed.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist.
• Unrestricted license as a registered pharmacist in any state.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 1 year of hire.
• Completion of ASHP-recognized residency preferred.
• Clinical competency within 3 months and reviewed annually.

Responsibilities

• Review prescriptions for appropriateness, legality, and safety before dispensing.
• Verify finished orders accurately and maintain records with minimal supervision.
• Counsel patients on medication use and expected outcomes; ensure understanding.
• Perform medication therapy management and provide drug information to staff.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff as needed.
• Participate in quality control, formulary decisions, and clinical committees.
• Provide health promotion related to drug therapy and disease prevention.
• Support long-term care pharmacist functions and medication-use systems.
