Job summary

SEARHC in Alaska is seeking a Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective drug therapy, counsel patients, and advise staff on pharmacotherapy.

You will verify prescriptions, manage formulary, supervise technicians, and participate in quality improvement and long-term care activities. Qualifications include Pharm.D. and active pharmacist licensure; BLS; residency preferred; travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist.
• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with 3 years hospital/ambulatory experience (pre-2003).
• Unrestricted pharmacist license in any state.
• CPR/BLS certification (may be obtained within 1 year).
• ASHP-recognized residency preferred.
• Clinical Competency within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
• High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and yearly.

Responsibilities

• Reviews prescriptions for therapy appropriateness, safety, and lab values; documents activities.
• Verifies finished orders, ensures timely, accurate dispensing and record keeping.
• Counsels patients on medications, indications, usage, and expected outcomes.
• Performs medication reviews and MTMs; provides drug information and staff education.
• Directs pharmacy support personnel and supervises technicians and students.
• Participates in quality control/improvement, formulary decisions, and clinic duties.
• Supports health promotion and LTC pharmacist functions; participates in safety initiatives.
• Engages in interdisciplinary planning and education for facility staff.
