Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy and California State licensure.
• Must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Exercise sound professional judgment and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work efficiently under broad guidelines and decision making.
• Endurance to perform tasks over long hours.
• Ability to perform essential functions without posing a direct threat.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician's orders for medications, compound and dispense prescribed drugs.
• Maintain records on all medication orders filled for inpatient use and compute and record charges.
• Evaluate incompatibilities in orders and communicate evaluations to physicians.
• Distribute medications to patients and educate them on their medications.
• Dispense floor stock controlled substances and maintain inventory records.
• Respond to emergency needs of the department when called upon by leadership.
• Be available for on-call service and assist in student education where applicable.
• Perform other duties as needed. This position does not provide direct patient care.
