Why This Role Is Different

This is not just another inpatient pharmacist position.

This is an opportunity to practice true clinical pharmacy in a tight-knit hospital environment where your expertise is visible, respected, and genuinely impactful—while living in one of the most breathtaking regions of the Pacific Northwest. Think crystal-clear lakes, mountain air, evergreen forests, and wide-open skies—an outdoor lover’s paradise that offers balance, beauty, and a slower, more intentional pace of life.

The organization is intentionally conducting this search confidentially and seeks a pharmacist who values autonomy, clinical judgment, and meaningful collaboration—especially during overnight hours when your decision-making matters most.

The Role

As an Inpatient Pharmacist, you will serve as a critical clinical resource during overnight operations, ensuring safe, effective, and timely medication therapy for hospitalized patients. You’ll work closely with physicians, nurses, and clinical teams while exercising a high level of professional independence.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and dispense medications using best practices and hospital protocols
  • Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapy
  • Serve as a trusted source of real-time drug information for providers
  • Participate in medical emergencies, including code blue situations
  • Ensure continuity of pharmaceutical care across inpatient and ambulatory settings
  • Identify, manage, and report medication errors and near-misses
  • Support and oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Contribute to formulary management and medication-use policy development
  • Provide targeted in-service education to clinical staff as needed
  • Utilize technology and automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis) to maximize efficiency
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary committees
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics, drug utilization review, and medication distribution systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, act decisively, and remain calm under pressure

Preferred

  • Prior hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience
Physical & Cognitive Expectations
  • Light to moderate physical activity, including standing or sitting at a computer
  • Ability to respond quickly to STAT medication requests and emergency situations
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret physician orders
  • Manual dexterity for IV admixture preparation using laminar flow hoods or biological safety cabinets
  • Frequent communication with nursing staff and providers—both verbal and written
Licensure & Certification
  • Active Pharmacist license (state-specific details discussed confidentially)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (Required)
The Lifestyle Factor

This role offers more than professional fulfillment—it offers quality of life. Few inpatient pharmacist positions allow you to step out of work and into pristine nature within minutes. If you value wide-open spaces, outdoor adventure, and a community-oriented environment—without sacrificing clinical challenge—this opportunity delivers.
