Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant II to support inpatient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will work with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met and safety is maintained.

This role requires basic patient care skills, medical terminology, strong communication, and basic computer proficiency. Relevant certifications and a minimum of two years of related clinical experience are required or expected during onboarding.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus technical skills/training for the specialty.
• Two years of related clinical experience required; nursing rotations acceptable.
• Basic Life Support from an AHA-approved program required.
• Aggression Management certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.
• Other unit/service certifications may be required by the department.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care activities under supervision of a registered nurse on inpatient units.
• Collaborate with charge nurse and staff nurses to assess and meet patient care needs.
• Perform delegated patient care tasks and adhere to patient safety procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in basic patient care skills, medical terminology, communication, and computer use.
