Job summary

ChristianaCare Health System in Delaware seeks a Unit Based Medical Director for the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. The role leads the clinical operations of the inpatient oncology unit, collaborating with nursing and admin leaders to meet clinical and quality goals.

The MD will monitor key performance metrics, mentor providers, and participate in weekly rounds and education activities, ensuring high standards of care and patient experience across the service line.

Qualifications

• BC/BE Hematology & Medical Oncology
• Must have the ability to be licensed in the State of Delaware and Maryland and meet credentialing requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and analyze medical history, study blood samples and data to inform decisions
• Study lab tests, CT scans and MRIs for accurate diagnosis
• Test and diagnose patients
• Perform bone marrow aspirations for detecting blood disorders
• Analyze blood samples for white/red blood cell abnormalities
• Treat diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, leukemia
• Administer chemotherapy for lymphoma or leukemia
• Treat blood-clotting disorders
• Consult with other physicians in difficult cases
• Interpret and diagnose morphologic findings on bone marrow biopsy specimens
• Support Department of Medicine in audits and documentation reviews
• Contribute to inter-disciplinary team activities and education/quality efforts
• Adhere to ABIM/Hematology guidelines and develop ongoing education
