Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse in Inpatient Oncology to provide high-quality patient-centered care. You will collaborate with oncology-certified nurses and specialists to develop and implement individualized care plans, manage treatments, and document care thoroughly in the medical record.

The role emphasizes patient advocacy, education for patients and families, and adherence to nursing models to achieve optimal clinical outcomes in a high-acuity oncology setting.

Qualifications

• RN license in Virginia or compact license required or preferred.
• BSN degree or enrolled in program preferred.
• 1 year oncology med-surg experience in acute care preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• OCN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and each shift, reporting changes promptly.
• Collaborate with oncology-certified nurses and cancer experts to plan care.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, documentation, and administer medications as ordered.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively meet needs.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plan, medications, and follow-up steps.
