Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Manager RN II who will have 24-hour accountability for the Clinical Staffing Department, Bed Flow, Internal Resource Team, Schedulers, and Telesitters, shaping safe environments and optimal staffing.

You will collaborate with physicians and leaders to set strategic goals, implement evidence-based practices, monitor quality and patient experience, and manage budget and resources. This role offers growth opportunities and a strong benefits program.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 2 years leadership or management experience; 3 years clinical inpatient nursing experience.
• Level 2 Light Work with ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and accountability for the overall performance of assigned inpatient unit(s).
• Establish strategic priorities, goals, and performance standards to support excellence in patient care and staff engagement.
• Monitor and evaluate departmental outcomes including quality, safety, patient experience, and financial performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DNV, CMS).
• Partner with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate evidence-based care practices.
• Lead initiatives to improve patient safety, care quality, and service delivery across the department.
• Utilize data and performance metrics to guide decisions and achieve goals.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled nursing workforce; conduct evaluations and address performance issues.
• Support professional growth through mentoring and continuing education.
• Oversee departmental budget and resource utilization; collaborate on planning.
• Collaborate with leadership on operational and capital planning.
