Job summary

MaineGeneral Health in Farmingdale, Maine seeks an Inpatient Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Nuclear Medicine and PET work in Augusta, Waterville, and Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.

The ideal candidate will hold a Maine Radiologic/Nuclear Medicine license, NMTCB or ARRT certification, and BLS, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. 40 hours per week, days shift, staff position.

Qualifications

  • Current State of Maine License for Radiological Technology/Nuclear Medicine.
  • Certification as Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB or ARRT) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and orders; educate patient on procedures.
  • Prepare, administer, store and dispose radiopharmaceuticals per protocols.
  • Prepare equipment; select exposure factors; perform quality control.
  • Position patient; perform imaging; analyze and report results.

This position works in the Nuclear Medicine departments at the facilities in Augusta and Waterville, as well as in the PET department at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care

The manager for this position empowers staff to be creative problem solvers and think independently while working together to provide the highest quality of patient care

The Work

Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation

Orders, prepares, administers, stores and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals and or medications according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate

Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Current State of Maine License for Radiological Technology/Nuclear Medicine required

Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required

Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider

Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
