Job summary

Memorial Hospital of Carbon County seeks a Medical Coding Specialist- Inpatient to review documentation in the electronic medical record and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes in compliance with AHIMA standards and ICD-10 guidelines.

The role requires knowledge of inpatient coding, observation, surgery, emergency and other outpatient procedures, with a preference for candidates with related certifications and experience in inpatient facility coding.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in or graduate of Medical Coding Program.
• In lieu of Medical Coding education, an active coding certification is required.
• Graduate of Health Information Technology program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation in EMR and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes.
• Ensure coding aligns with AHIMA Standards and ICD-10 Guidelines.
• Experience across inpatient, observation, surgery, emergency, laboratory, radiology, infusions, and other outpatient procedures.
