Memorial Hospital of Carbon County seeks a Medical Coding Specialist- Inpatient to review documentation in the electronic medical record and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes in compliance with AHIMA standards and ICD-10 guidelines.
The role requires knowledge of inpatient coding, observation, surgery, emergency and other outpatient procedures, with a preference for candidates with related certifications and experience in inpatient facility coding.
Job Location: Memorial Hospital of Carbon County - Rawlins, WY, Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Health Care, The Medical Coding Specialist- Inpatient reviews documentation in the electronic medical record and assigns and sequences ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes, in accordance with the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and in compliance with ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines and other regulatory requirements. The Medical Coding Specialist will have experience in Critical Access Coding, to include Inpatient, Observation, Surgery, Emergency, Laboratory, Radiology, Infusions and other Outpatient procedures. Qualifications: Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Coder preferred
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of or currently enrolled in a Medical Coding Program. In lieu of a Medical Coding education, an active coding certification is required. Graduate of Health Information Technology program is preferred.
Experience: One year of progressive inpatient facility coding experience. Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), within one year of hire. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
