Job summary

UCSF is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Liver Transplant Team, providing inpatient care for liver transplant patients at UCSF. The role involves direct patient assessment, coordinating with surgeons, fellows, residents, pharmacists, and social workers to ensure safe, effective treatment.

The NP will document care in the EHR, support discharge planning, and participate in service rounds and consults. Must hold CA NP licensure with transplant privileges and BLS/ACLS credentials.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
• Minimum of 1 year of NP experience in ICU or inpatient transplant within the past five years.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluate and manage patients (or with shared physician/APP encounters).
• Take histories and perform physicals; respond to status changes; order tests and treatments.
• Document in the EHR per UCSF rules; ensure correct billing; respond to quality inquiries.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team, discharge planning, and follow-up.
• Provide patient/family education and participate in rounds and care planning.
