The successful candidate will hold a PharmD with residency training or equivalent hospital experience, 3–5 years preferred, with strong leadership and research publication background.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and complete a residency training program or have equivalent experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
• PGY2 in Critical Care or equivalent training preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of pharmacist experience or equivalent training at another institution, preferred.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to meet and exceed practice standards set for a Level II pharmacist (Henry Ford Detroit Hospital Only).
• Must be able to serve as an institutional authority in a given specialty practice area.
• Must have demonstrable leadership abilities and exhibit teamwork when working with others.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills which enable effective dissemination of information to health care personnel; proven research/publication record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an active practice in the specialty area and serves as the institutional expert regarding pharmacy practice issues.
• Plans, develops, and implements high quality, cost effective pharmacy programs in the specialty area.
• Oversees and evaluates students and provides training in the specialty area.
• Trains staff in pharmacy functions and procedures for the specialty area.
• Identifies and resolves daily operational/clinical problems in the area with other departments as needed.
• Conducts applied research and contributes to pharmacy/medical literature.
• Represents the department at internal and external meetings.
