Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Pharmacy Specialist Cardiovascular ICU to lead specialized pharmacy practice in the CVICU. Based in Detroit, this full-time day-shift role supports medication management for cardiology patients and collaborates with clinicians to optimize therapy.

The ideal candidate holds a PharmD with residency training or equivalent hospital experience; PGY2 in Critical Care preferred and 3–5 years of pharmacist experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a PharmD from an accredited college and complete residency training or have equivalent hospital pharmacy practice experience.
• PGY2 in Critical Care or equivalent training preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmacist experience or equivalent training.
• Must demonstrate ability to meet and exceed practice standards for a Level II pharmacist.
• Must be able to serve as institutional authority in a given specialty practice area.
• Must have demonstrable leadership abilities and exhibit teamwork.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a provable research/publication record.
• Must be qualified to work with pharmacy students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Must have a history of reliability and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Includes medication management of cardiovascular ICU patients, including cardiovascular surgery and circulatory support.
• Maintains an active practice in their specialty area and serves as the institutional expert regarding pharmacy practice issues in that area.
• Plans, develops, and implements new, high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy programs and services related to the specialty area.
• Provides direct direction, oversight, support and evaluation of 6th year Doctor of Pharmacy Students assigned to their area.
• Provides proper training and direction in pharmacy functions and procedures for staff in the specialty area.
• Identifies and resolves daily operational and/or clinical problems in their area in collaboration with other departments.
• Designs and conducts applied research and contributes to the pharmacy/medical literature.
• Represents the department at internal and external meetings.
