Job summary

The Carpenter House in Gulfport, LA is seeking a Full Time Inpatient Hospice Registered Nurse (RN). You will assess patients, help develop and implement the Plan of Care, and provide palliation with hospice-level care.

Ideal candidates hold an RN license, with 2+ years direct patient care in oncology/acute care or hospice, CPR certification, EMR knowledge, and a compassionate, organized approach to end-of-life care.

Qualifications

• Mississippi RN license is required.
• Minimum 2 years of full-time RN experience in oncology or acute care with direct patient care.
• Two years of hospice care experience may substitute for RN experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Current auto insurance and valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of EMR systems is required.
• Previous home health or hospice experience preferred.
• Compassionate RN with strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing patient assessment.
• Develops and implements the Hospice Plan of Care.
• Provides acute crisis management and palliation.
• Educates patient and family on Plan of Care and medications.
• Maintains accurate medical records.

Job Duties

• Performs the initial and on going assessment of the patient
• Assist in developing and implementing the Hospice Plan of Care
• Provides acute crisis management to hospice patients through means of high flow oxygen therapy IV infusionpush SQ medication delivery and other means for palliation
• Educate patient and family on Plan of Care including medication administration dressing changes oxygen administration Hospice philosophy and care of the terminally ill patient
• Maintain an accurate and updated medical record
• Abide by company policies and procedures compliance guidelines applicable laws and regulations promptly reporting any suspected violation of compliance standards

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse RN license required in the State of Mississippi
• Minimum of two 2 years full time experience as an RN either in oncology an acute care setting with direct patient care a long term care facility hospice or home health care
• Two 2 years hospice care experience as an LPN may be substituted for the required 2 years of experience as an RN
• Current CPR certification requiredCurrent automobile insurance and valid drivers license
• Knowledge of EMR is required
• Previous Home Health or Hospice experience preferred
• Compassionate RN with great time management skills
