Job summary

Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in California seeks an Inpatient Group Facilitator to support acute psychiatric inpatients (adolescents and adults) on a per diem, part-time or full-time basis.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling (MFT), Psychology, or related therapy field.
  • Two years of behavioral health experience; experience with severely mentally ill is preferred.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained during orientation.
  • Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention training approved by the CNO.

Responsibilities

  • Lead therapeutic, coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducational groups.
  • Chart patient participation, engagement, and progress in the EHR within California Title 22 timeframes.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to align group topics with treatment goals.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Focus on discharge readiness and community reintegration planning.
  • Comply with HIPAA and LPS guidelines.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethics at all times.

Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH) is regarded as an integral part of the greater Santa Rosa and Northern California mental health system of care.

Conveniently located in the North Bay, SRBHH serves adolescents and adults. We treat both mental health and co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse conditions.

PAY RANGE
  • Activity Therapists (Music, Art, Recreation) - $44.00-$51.70 Per Hour
  • Associate Therapists - $49.00-$51.70 Per Hour
  • Licensed Therapists - $60.00-$64.63 Per Hour

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Group Facilitator conducts therapeutic, psychoeducational, and rehabilitative groups for acute psychiatric inpatients for both adults and adolescents. This role works on an as-needed basis to support the interdisciplinary treatment team. The facilitator provides evidence-based interventions to promote stabilization, coping skills, and discharge readiness. The Per Diem Group Facilitator practices sound clinical judgement, professionalism and good clinical practice as well as support to other departmental needs. The Group Facilitator maintains knowledge of, participates in further training provided, and understands the potential risks regarding occupational health hazards (e.g. bloodborne pathogen exposures).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Group Facilitation: Lead therapeutic, coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducational groups
  • Clinical Documentation: Chart patient participation, engagement, and progress towards treatment goals in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) within California Title 22 timeframes.
  • Treatment Planning: Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to align group topics with patient treatment goals.
  • Milieu Management: Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and utilize de-escalation techniques if patient agitation occurs.
  • Discharge Readiness: Focus group interventions on symptom management and transition planning back into the community.
  • Comply with HIPAA and LPS guidelines.
  • Consistently carries out above outlined job responsibilities while maintaining appropriate boundaries and professional demeanor.
  • Performs related duties, as requested.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Experience
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling (MFT), Psychology, Certified Music Therapist, Certified Art Therapist, Certified Yoga Instructor, or a Bachelor's/Master's in Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS) or Occupational Therapy (OTR/L).
  • Two years of behavioral health experience and experience working with Severely Mentally Ill and Group Facilitation preferred.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required, or obtained within initial orientation period.
  • Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention program as approved by the CNO.
Skills and Abilities
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times.
  • Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:

  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.
