Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital invites experienced Inpatient Nurses to care for patients boarding in the Emergency Department while awaiting inpatient beds. The ideal nurse is patient-, family-focused, with strong clinical knowledge and collaboration, comfortable in a Level 1 trauma center environment.

This role offers exposure to ED processes and a broad range of inpatient specialties including Medicine, Surgery, and Neurology.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license
• Minimum 1 year med/surg/telemetry experience; ER preferred
• Use Nursing Process for patient care
• Perform assessments and treatments per policy
• Discharge teaching and patient education
• Document in patient records and follow hospital policies
• Communicate with healthcare team effectively

Responsibilities

• Care for ED boarding patients awaiting inpatient beds
• Perform patient assessments and treatments according to policy/procedure
• Provide discharge teaching
• Update patient records and maintain documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centered care
