Qualifications

• Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy or related field.
• Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) through the New York State Office of Professions.
• Registration as MT-BC or ATR or related credentials; Art Therapy credentials strongly preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Completion of a clinical internship in a Creative Arts Therapy discipline.
• Proficient in modalities pertaining to Creative Arts Therapy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to engage patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' psychosocial, emotional, developmental, and therapeutic needs using creative arts therapy principles.
• Develop and implement individualized and group treatment plans with the health care team.
• Utilize therapies to help patients cope with hospitalization, anxiety, and emotional distress.
• Facilitate programming that promotes coping, expression, socialization, and well-being.
• Communicate observations and progress to the care team and advocate for patients.
• Provide education on benefits of creative arts interventions.
• Maintain documentation in medical records and reporting systems.
• Participate in program development, education, quality improvement, and therapy service enhancements.
• Maintain licensure and keep up with evidence-based practices.
