Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking an Inpatient Coder III to identify and assign ICD diagnoses and procedures after reviewing provider documentation. You will abstract demographic and clinical data for inpatient records for data collection, reimbursement, research, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires an RHIT, RHIA, RN, CIC, CCS or CPC certification and 1 year of inpatient coding experience at an acute care or teaching facility, with a strong commitment to accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, or other science-based degree such as nursing preferred.
  • RHIT, RHIA, RN, CIC, CCS or CPC certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assign ICD diagnostic and ICD procedural codes after review of provider documentation.
  • Abstract demographic and clinical information for inpatient records for data collection, reimbursement, research and compliance.
